John B. Walker John is Chairman and CEO of EVEP and President and CEO of EnerVest. Prior to founding EnerVest, John was President and Chief Operating Officer of Torch Energy. During his tenure, Torch’s assets grew from $200 million to $1 billion. At Torch, John was responsible for the creation of Nuevo Energy Company and its initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange. Prior to that, John created Walker Energy Partners, an American Stock Exchange Company, which raised $136 million and participated in more than 1,000 wells. John was selected by Institutional Investor as an “all American” energy analyst for six years in a row. He holds a BBA (with honors) from Texas Tech University and a MBA (with distinction) from New York University.

In November 2007 John was named Chief Roughneck for his ongoing leadership in the oil and gas industry. John served as chairman of the Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA) from 2003 to 2005. In May 2000, he was recognized with the IPAA’s Leadership award for his contribution to the industry and in 2001 received the Silver Beaver Award. In May 2007 he received the Distinguished Eagle from the Boy Scouts of America. He is also a member of the Natural Gas Council and National Petroleum Council and serves or has served on the boards of the Houston Producers Forum, Houston Petroleum Club, Texas Independent Producers and Royalty Owners Association and as Chairman of the Board of Sam Houston Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

Mark A. Houser   Mark serves as President, COO and Director of EVEP, and Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of EnerVest. He has been with EnerVest since May 1999. Prior to joining EnerVest, Mark was Vice President, United States Exploration and Production, for Occidental Petroleum Corporation (“Oxy”), where he helped lead Oxy’s reorganization of its domestic reserve base, including the successful $3.65 billion acquisition of the Elk Hills Naval Petroleum Reserve. Mark began his career as an engineer with Kerr-McGee Corporation. In 1989 he joined Canadian Occidental Petroleum, Ltd. (now Nexen) where he held positions of increasing responsibility, including Vice President – Corporate Planning and Investor Relations in Calgary and Vice President – Exploration for CXY Energy, Canadian Oxy’s United States subsidiary. He holds a petroleum engineering degree from Texas A&M University and a MBA from Southern Methodist University.

Mark serves on the Board of Directors of the North American Prospect Expo (NAPE) and the Louisiana Independent Oil & Gas Association (LIOGA) and serves on the industry board of the Texas A&M department of Petroleum Engineering. He also is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, and the IPAA. He also serves on the Administrative Board of Chapelwood United Methodist Church.

Michael E. Mercer  Mike is Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. He has been a consultant to EnerVest Management Partners from 2001 to 2006. Prior to that, Mike was an investment banker for 12 years. He was a Director in the Energy Group at Credit Suisse First Boston in Houston and a Director in the Energy Group at Salomon Smith Barney in New York and London. He holds a BBA in Petroleum Land Management from the University of Texas at Austin and a MBA from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.

Ronald J. Gajdica  Ron is Senior Vice President Acquisitions. Prior to joining EV Energy Partners, Ron served as Managing Director of Scotia Waterous in Houston where he was responsible for the Mergers, Acquisitions and Divestment technical advisory team for the U.S. and Latin America. Ron was at BHP Billiton Petroleum from 1999-2007 where he held the positions of Petroleum Engineering Manager, Americas Production Manager, Atlantis Deepwater Project Director and VP Global Planning and Evaluation. Prior to that, he worked at ARCO for 10 years in a variety of domestic and international assignments, including Global Director of Reservoir Studies and SEC Reserves Coordinator. He began his career at Tenneco Oil Company in 1983 spending 5 years as a reservoir and production engineer.

Ron holds Bachelor (ranked first in class) and Master of Science degrees in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University, and a Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering from Stanford University.

Ron is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, spent 13 years as an SPE Technical Editor, is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Texas and has authored several technical papers.

Victor Burk  Victor is a Managing Director for Alvarez and Marsal, a privately-owned professional services firm. From 2005 to 2009, Victor was the global energy practice leader for Spencer Stuart, a privately owned executive recruiting firm. Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, Victor had a 33 year career in public accounting. He was managing partner of Deloitte & Touche’s global oil and gas group from 2002 to 2005. He began his professional career in 1972 with Arthur Andersen and served as managing partner of Arthur Andersen’s global oil and gas group from 1989 until 2002. Victor is a current board member of the Houston Producers’ forum, the Independent Petroleum Association of America (Southeast Texas Region), and Sam Houston Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America. He holds a BBA degree in accounting from Stephen F. Austin University, graduating with highest honors.

James R. Larson  Jim retired from Anadarko Petroleum Corporation in January 2006 after serving as Senior Vice President since September 2005. He served as Senior Vice President, Finance, and Chief Financial Officer of Anadarko from December 2003 until September 2005. From 2002 to 2003, he served as Senior Vice President, Finance, of Anadarko, where he managed treasury, investor relations, internal audits and acquisitions and divestitures. From 1995 to 2002, Jim served as Vice President and Controller at Anadarko, where he was responsible for accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and tax. Prior to that he held various tax and financial positions with Anadarko after joining the company in 1981. Jim is a current member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Financial Executives International and Tax Executives Institute. He holds a BBA in Business from the University of Iowa.

George Lindahl III  George is a Managing Partner of Sanderfer Capital Partners, a role he has held since 2001. From 2000 to 2001 he served as Vice Chairman of Anadarko Petroleum Corporation. Prior to that, he worked for Union Pacific Resources Corporation from 1987 to 2000, serving as Chairman, President and CEO from 1999 to 2000, and President and COO from 1996 to 1999. George holds a BS in Geology from the University of Alabama and has completed the Advanced Management Program at the Harvard Business School.

Gary R. Petersen  Gary is Managing Director and co-founder of EnCap Investments L.P. Prior to the formation of EnCap in 1988, Gary was a Senior Vice President and Manager of the Corporate Finance division of the energy banking group for Republic Bank Corporation from 1985 to 1988. His duties and responsibilities included mergers and acquisitions, financial advisory services, and institutional fund-raising activities for the energy industry. Prior to his position at Republic Bank, Gary was an Executive Vice President and a member of the board of directors of Nicklos Oil & Gas Company in Houston from 1979 to 1984. Previously, Gary was a group Vice President in the Petroleum and Minerals division of Republic Bank Dallas, where he began his business career in 1972. He served from 1970 to 1971 in the U.S. Army in Washington D.C. as a First Lieutenant in the Finance Corps and as an Army officer in the National Security Agency.

Gary obtained his Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Business Administration degrees in finance from Texas Tech University and has done post-graduate work at American University and the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University. He serves on the board of directors of twelve portfolio companies; Cordillera Energy Partners, Laredo Energy, Escondido Resources, Shona Energy, Plantation III, Mediterranean Resources, OGX, Core Minerals, Protégé Resources, EV Partners and Plains All American (NYSE). Gary is also active in his local community where he is Chairman of the Council on Alcohol and Drugs in Houston, Director of the Memorial Herman Healthcare Systems and former Chairman of Chapelwood United Methodist Church.
